Mindee Arnett: Nighmare Builder

In my experience of interviewing Mindee Arnett, I learned a lot of new things about her. She is a Y/A author, but she also writes for adults. She believes “the book chooses the writer.” She originally wanted her book The Nightmare Affair, to be an adult book, but then she changed the age of the main character, which changed pretty much everything in regards to the age group.

On October 16, the 2nd annual Author Extravaganza was in full swing at Perry High School. There were many authors at the event and among them was Maria E. Andreu.

Michael Uslan, the producer of the Dark Knight films we have come to love and see on the big screen, paid a visit to Lake Erie College where he gave a speech on Founders Day and explained how he became the big success that he is now and how all of this started with Uslan buying comic books for 20 cents apiece.
 
Bridge to Success: An Interview with Katherine Paterson

On October 17, several successful authors visited Perry High School to talk to teachers, librarians and the like about different topics such as racial equality and censorship. Among these speakers was award-winning author Katherine Paterson who wrote Bridge to Terabithia, The Great Gilly Hopkins and more.
 
“Read, read, read, write, write, write”

As students are well aware, Thursday, October 16th was the day of the Author Extravaganza where students got to meet real published authors and ask them questions in a Q and A. Afterwards the journalism students were sent to do one-on-one interviews with the authors and I had the chance to interview Natalie D. Richards, author of the novel Six Months Later.
 
Robotics Team Awarded Overall Top Honors
The Perry Robotics Team has been awarded the Overall Excellence Award at the 2014 VEX RAMTEC Ohio State Qualifier Tournament held recently in Marion, Ohio. 
GAHTAH Comes To Perry

“Give A Hand Take A Hand” is a school-based program that is meant to use teens to reach other teens concerning suicide awareness.
 
Helpful and Fun New Classes

Perry has a lot of new classes that can help with things beyond your high school experience like interviewing, healthy cooking, and amazing job opportunities. Classes that give you experience in fields like financing, business owning and also classes that help bring out your more creative side.
